Questions By The Sages
"There are many varieties of scriptures, and in all of them, there are many prescribed duties, which can be learned only after many years of study in their various divisions. Therefore, O sage, please select the essence of all these scriptures and explain it for the good of all living beings, that by such instructions their hearts may be fully satisfied."

*Srimad Bhagavatam Canto 1, Chapter 1, Text 11

INTRODUCTION TO THE SCIENCE OF DIVINE HEARING.
Hear to know - Heart ok now.
Same letters - two good results.
ATTENTIVE HEARING IS THE FIRST STEP TO SPIRITUAL PERFECTION, AS TAUGHT IN BHAKTI YOGA MYSTERY SCHOOL- BHAKTI IS THE SCIENCE OF RECONNECTING TO GOD/SOURCE, BY LOVING, DEVOTIONAL SERVICE, FOR THE PLEASURE OF THE ONE ABSOLUTE - THE SUPREME PERSONALITY OF GODHEAD.
THAT GOD IS ONE, BUT CAN MANIFEST IN UNLIMITED WAYS AND FORMS - BOTH MATERIALLY AND SPIRITUALLY - IS THE VEDIC UNDERSTANDING OF SPIRITUAL ONENESS, WHICH REVEALS ALL OTHER MYSTERIES OF LIFE, BY REVELATION.

Srila AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (1896-1977) and his predecessor lineage, taught that God, the all-powerful Supreme Controller and Creator, is referred to in all major religions. In each religion, in different time and circumstances,  guidelines were revealed, by which one could achieve spiritual guidance and liberation - as long as the original teachings were not adulterated or misused for egotistical power, social control, or money. Such is the circumstance of various religions, over thousands of years. The essence of religion and spirituality, namely love of God, can be found in various traditions - if not commandeered by mundane pride and ambition.  Somewhat unterintuitively perhaps, is the understanding that more was known about Godhead and creation, 5,000 years ago, than is commonly known today. Even before Buddhism and the Abrahamic religious traditions, the overall conditions on earth, were determined by a different age and timeline, according to Vedic references. The Vedic culture referred to a cycle of timelines (Yugas) on earth that have played out over millions of years.  Just over 5,000 years ago, residents of the previous age (Dwarpara Yuga) were in touch and influenced by higher cultures both on this planet, with influences and visits from off-planet beings of various types as well. This may sound fantastical to some, but the fact is humankind today has very little idea of what life was like on earth, 5,000 ago. Whatever theories that have been taught by modern education, are not conclusive by any means, and there is no consensus in the academic community either. as for how long humankind has been on earth, or what was the condition of the various and cultures that have come and gone, or their various remants and left-over influences felt today. One could easily propose that we don't even know everything about the last 500 years, or 2,000 years on earth. Yet we are asked to accept some theories and sketchy evidence, which seems to constantly be refuted and updated with new speculations - we are asked for our blind faith in anything "scientific" - while questioning fraud, profiteering and manipulation by anyone in a lab coat is considered as modern blasphemy - only done by the utterly ignorant who have not bowed to self-appointed scientism gods. The time is now to think for oneself, and consider more than just one opinion, see what fits.
Vedically speaking, Sri Krishna spoke the Bhagavad Gita, as the Dwarpara Yuga ended, and Kali Yuga, a darker age began.
At some point, about 5,000 years ago, different age began, one that was more materially challenging. Marked with confusion, discord. Deceit along with short tempers increased and thrown in the mix; where quarrel and agression become more prominent, along with compromised leaders. In spite of these misfortunes, a new golden era of light would gradually dawn,  with an influence for thousands of years to come, even in the midst of the darkness.
In New York City, August 1965, an ambassador of the new golden age arrived from India, on a cargo boat, with the news of a Golden Avatar  who appeared in  India, almost 500 years previously. His message to the world was chant, and dance with sacred sounds - mantras with the names of God, in order to happy, informed, and spiritually sovereign, A path for independent beings, acting in the service of God/Source - in order to go back to home, back to Godhead, after this one life on earth.  This is a free will choice; not a demand or something that can be forced upon someone against their will.
After giving Arjuna advice in the Bhagavad Gita, Sri Krishna asked Arjuna to deliberate fully, then decide for himself what direction in life to take. Arjuna decided to fight for right, as was his duty, and as a willing instrument of divine orchestration, as personally revealed by the Lord.

AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (1896-1977) lived a life of extraordinary standards. After raising 5 children he retired to the holy village in Vrindavan India - a sacred place for hundreds of millions in India, being the historical location of Lord Krishna's early pastimes. His residence for years was in the Sri Sri Radha-Damodar temple, for a contemplative life of study and to prepare for a world-changing mission. His mission had been assigned to him decades earlier by his own guru and renowned spiritual master,  His Divine Grace Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Goswami Thakur (1874-1937)

At their first meeting in 1922 Srila Saraswati Thakur requested his new student, who was already married in his twenties,  to spread in the English language, the precepts and mission of Lord Krishna's most recent incarnation
(Sri Chantanya Mahaprabhu 1486-1534), with precepts as passed down through the Brahma-Madhava-Gaudiya Sampradaya (a lineage) of spiritual masters, and by holy scriptures.
Part of the uniqueness of this message, was that it was not information coming from speculations of an ordinary conditioned soul, having limited senses and also saddled with 4 natural faults, namely imperfect senses, being subject to illusion, committing mistakes and a tendency to cheat others - with one of the biggest cheating propensities being to teach others fraudulent and unproven theories.
This carefully handed down transcendental knowledge is far different than theory and speculation, it is called "Apaurushya" wisdom, divinely provided from God/Source; it is not a creation of a faulty and limited mundane mind, but rather received through divine revelation.
For those who have concluded that a Higher Power exists, whether one prefers to call it Universal Consciousness, God,  Source, or the All-mighty Lord, The Supreme Personality of  Godhead, or The Lord Of All That Is, most agree that although ultimately inconceivable in nature , (the quality of Godhead called "Achintya" in the Vedas) that inconceivable, universally present and conscious energy of the Supreme Person, can communicate to anyone, through the portal of one's purest heart of hearts; a conscious channel, fundamentally connected energetically, to all that is.
Consciousness is said to be the symptom of one's eternal spirit/soul. It is said in holy texts that that non-material and materially non-detectable spirit, resides in the region of one's heart. In addition is understood that the All-Pervasive Supreme Lord, shares that same, non-material space in one's spiritual heart, in every body. Even in animals, it is that same divine presence, that accounts for the incredible instincts that guide animal skills and migrations. It is that same Supersoul standing next to each individual soul, that non only oversees each soul's physical and mental functions, but can communicate partially (such as one's conscience or  intuition) or fully, revealing direct information, plus hearing one's thoughts and prayers.
This process of spiritual re-connection - remembrance of the presence of the divine within, and without, is the essence of all religion and the perfection of one's spiritual journey, emancipation, lasting peace, and satisfaction.

The essence of the knowledge of sacred texts, is to first understand the nature of the self and that of Godhead, and the eternal loving relationship that exists between both.
Nonduality does not mean that subject and object cannot exist, but rather that both exist, act and function within the same, non-dual, internal spiritual energy of Godhead.
Next, after understand the relationship of love and service between the eternal part and the eternal Whole, is how act in spiritual love and harmony, applying that knowledge/formula, to reawaken one's innate spiritual function and purpose of life. One of the great maladies in modern life, is that people rarely feel any great purpose in life, aside from survival until death; something animals also naturally do. However the human being has special options, if seeking a higher realm of truth, existence, and eternal satisfaction.
In Sanskrit holy texts and as taught by Lord Chaitanya, the three primary  stages of spiritual development are called:
Sambandha - knowing the relationship of the spiritual part to the Spiritual Whole -  which is being of loving service. Understanding that each spark of Spirit, has an active, spiritual relationship, with the One Supreme Spirit. Each spirit/soul, made manifest in the image of God, is spark of divine, conscious energy (Brahman). Each spirit/soul, is meant for joyfully dancing with the Supreme Brahman, the Personality of Godhead - who is known by unlimited divine names, features and incarnations.
Step 2 of 3. Abhidheha - Acting in the capacity of loving service, in one's thinking, feeling and willing actions, are dedicated to the Supreme (Param Brahman) Lord. Such activities are part of the eternal flow of love that spontaneously flow between the the part and the whole, gliding interchangeably between the lover and the beloved; a constant flow between the infintesimal, and the infinite.
Step 3 Prayojana - Knowing, Realizing/Living, the prime necessity of each part and parcel of Godhead, is loving action in service to Godhead, with the quality of  being unmotivated, uninterrupted, and thus blissfully nourishing for each, It is one's true identity and highest fulfillment of one's spiritual perfection - as a personal yet cosmic presence with an eternal function, even beyond material time and space.

To fulfill the mission of his guru, and Lord Chaitanya,
AC Bhaktivedanta Swami, came to the West, to freely give this treasure of historic knowledge, including knowledge of the oldest and newest of God's appearances, from the period spanning the last 5,000 years and before. Miraculously, Swami Prabhupada translated into English and commented on 70 Sanskrit sacred volumes of ancient texts during his 12 years in America, numerous world tours from his 69th to 81st year on the planet.
He almost single-handedly introduced the world to Bhakti culture, Vedic scriptures in English, and Sri Krishna to the Western World, in a massive way.
Lord Sri Krishna is accepted as appearance of Godhead/Source, by hundreds of millions of people in India and around the  world, who are dedicated to the Sanatana Dharma / Vedic Hindu philosophy.
Lord Sri Krishna divinely appeared in India 5,000 years ago. He directly spoke the Bhagavad Gita to His friend and disciple, Arjuna. Sri Krishna, as the adiguru or original guru, answered Arjuna's questions about one's duty in life, and described the spiritual nature and energies of God, the individual, karma (work/action), material nature, and time.
Late in the 15th Century, Sri Krishna appeared again in the mood of ecstatic devotion, and the divine feminine, Sri Radha, named Lord  Sri Krishna Chaitanya. Lord Chaitanya also taught the same practice of surrendering to Godhead as spoken by Sri Krishna, 4,500 year earlier. as the highest prospect of each individual sovereign living being. He also introduced  addition of chanting the great mantra for deliverance, the Maha Mantra Prayer (Hare Krishna) as the most simple and effective means of awakening and remembering one's divine eternal connections to the Supreme, also known as the one Almighty Lord, Universal Energetic Source and Creator, Godhead,  Param Brahman.
Fully convinced and realized that the sacred knowledge passed down by the saints and scriptures of the Vedic tradition was "Apaurusheya" knowledge, Swami Prabhupada taught by example with full confidence. He firmly held and experienced that this knowledge was transmitted from divine Source by internal revelation and repeated - it was not springing from the mind of any human being  who was still materially conditioned - meaning covered by the modes of material nature and illusion.
Such knowledge was not widely known in India, what to speak of being widely translated into English. Lord Chaitanya appeared to freely distribute this knowledge of the loving connection between the Supreme Lord and the individual, and how it could be easily realized, by chanting the Hare Krishna mantra, and following the instructions of the disciplic succession of teachers, stretching back thousands of years to Lord Krishna, and further.
Written in Sanskrit around 5,000 years ago these Vedic texts such as Bhagavad Gita, Bhagavata Purana, Sri Ishopanoshad, Brahma Samhita, Vedanta Sutra and others, contain original Sanskrit codes and mantras, unchanged and respected as divine instruction for humankind, for thousands of years.
Taking up the mantle of mission of Sri Krishna, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and his own spiritual master's Gaudiya Sampradaya, AC Bhaktivedanta arrived in New York practically penniless in 1965 after a difficult sea voyage from his native India, leaving his home in the holy land of Vrindavan, where Sri Krishna had appeared 5,000 years previously.
Over the next 12 years, AC Bhaktivedanta Swami accomplished the remarkable, to  put it mildly. He not only set the foundation for the universal wisdom of the Vedic science of God and Self realization to be heard and understood by the common man and woman on six continents, he provided a structure, practice and standard, far more effective for those willing to hear spiritual of spiritual reality, than anything offered by governments or organizations, including the United Nations model.
Through Mantra Meditation, study, practice, grace, and a devotional spirit to learn how to love God and self, the highest truths of individual spirit, Universal spirit, and the relationship of eternal love between each soul and Godhead/Source/Creator, is clearly presented. With free will, individual soverignty, and sincerity, if one humbly seeks to learn and practice loving devotion to Universal Godhead/Creator, this practice, also called Bhakti Yoga, will reveal the following:
How To Reconnect to Godhead And One's True Self
The Practice of Bhakti Yoga as Karma free activity resulting in eternally increasing experience full knowledge of self and Source, manifesting as Transcendental Loving Service To God, constantly playing out in one's purified and transcendental heart.
A non-sectarian guide to Universal knowledge and empowerment on the eternal spiritual platform.

For thousands of years before the printing press, knowledge was passed down by oral tradition, in concert with hand-copied texts in various mediums. Not everyone could read, and knowledge many times, was held in the hands of the few. Oral tradition has always been a powerful supplement to the written word - if not sometimes superseding the written word - and passed down from one generation to another. This is true in the lineage of various spiritual traditions as well - where masters trained students, who would become masters to continue the line of knowledge onward.
In this age of seeming unlimited informational access, one may question how to distinguish the essential from the unnecessary; the pertinent from the impertinent?
We may wonder if absolute truth exists independent from the relative valuations of self-styled authorities and self-aggrandizing  propagandists, theorists and speculators.
One approach, is to individually listen to various sources of knowledge with and open heart and mind - then see what resonates most deeply in one's inner-most heart, mind intellect, and spirit. The proof is in the pudding.
Sacred sound vibration and information will resonate on one's heartstrings, intellect and spirit, if true and valid. This is due to being emanated from one's Creator/Source already dwelling within one's heart, speaking directly to one's own spiritual heart and awareness. Such transcendent messages, received either written or spoken spiritual form, have a higher vibrational frequency and direct impact on one's internal reality, through divine resonance. Both Godhead and individual souls, consist of divine energy - but in different measures; one infinite, and one infintesimal.
We hear and perceive not only through our ears and minds when hearing/reading, but also through the analytical features of one's heart and spirit/soul, Such personal analysis internally, needs no external measurements of a subjective nature as science prefers. Ironically, even so-called scientific objective results, are interpreted very subjectively as to their ultimate meaning.

Hearing About Transcendent Spirit From Realized Souls And God Directly, Is The Primary Process for God and Self Realization In The Present Age. Hearing about the love-filled relationship between Godhead/Source and each conscious living being, is the gateway to the inner-dimension of spiritual reality everyone is part of, but has forgotten. Regaining one's spiritual identity, function, and connection to one's supremely conscious Source, is a journey of an individual's conscious awakening and divine revelation. It is revelation streaming from Source within, and also from Source agents without, in synchronicity.

Lord Sri Krishna Instructs His Friend Arjuna

5,000 years ago, at the precipice of an epic conflict pending at a battlefield in Kurukshetra, India Sri Krishna offered sage advise to Arjuna, who was deeply perplexed as to his best course of action.  Arjuna was a  princely warrior, faced with with a daunting decision as to his proper duty as both a family man and military commander. He had to decide to participate or not, in a war where family members and mentors on both sides, would surely be killed.
Arjuna sought advice from his dear friend Sri Krishna, regarding his immediate duty in life, being faced with an existential crisis.

Lord Sri Krishna, at Arjuna's request, revealed the transcendent knowledge by which anyone in any crisis, and at any time, can take shelter of.
Sri Krishna also revealed Himself to Arjuna as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and the best friend of not only Arjuna, but of everyone.

Sri Krishna did so, by empowering with Arjuna the spiritual vision required to see Universal Form of Godhead, and thereafter the audience of His divinely energetic, non-material personal feature - also divinely expanded into the hearts of all living beings .

Sri Krishna then spoke the Bhagavad Gita, and said in Chapter 4 Verse 34:
"Just try to learn the truth by approaching a spiritual master. Inquire from him submissively and render service unto him. The self-realized soul can impart knowledge unto you because he has seen the truth."
Over the last 5,000 years, there are many who have claimed to be spiritual masters, some genuine, many not. Those rare, genuine spirital masters are known by their symptoms of knowledge, detachment from worldly attachment and ego, and a simple joy and ecstasy of being in touch with Godhead / Source. Arjuna also wanted to know how to discern a genuine spiritual master, for the benefit of later seekers. Arjuna himself was receiving knowledge directly from Sri Krishna who is considered the original spiritual master, the spiritual embodiment of absolute truth, and the loving guide and friend residing in everyone's heart.
God/Source/Creator has no material name or form, but transcendent descriptions of Source/God's non-material qualities and attributes, include the All-powerful, All-Knowing, Ever-present, God-Almighty as the Supreme All-loving being. The name Krishna, refers to Godhead as the Supreme All-Attractive Personality of Godhead,

Arjuna
said: What are the symptoms of one whose consciousness is thus merged in Transcendence? How does he speak, and what is his language? How does he sit, and how does he walk?

The Blessed Lord said: "O Pārtha, when a man gives up all varieties of sense desire which arise from mental concoction, and when his mind finds satisfaction in the self alone, then he is said to be in pure transcendental consciousness."
Krishna then explains more:
"One who is thus transcendentally situated at once realizes the Supreme Brahman. He never laments nor desires to have anything; he is equally disposed to every living entity. In that state he attains pure devotional service unto Me."

In other words, when a person's consciousness is purely connected to the source of all spiritual love and happiness, one will automatically be free from lower material desires and  subsequent karmic bondage. Such renunciation is natural - nor forced or artificial, due to experiencing a non-ending satisfaction of a spiritual  connection to Godhead, which is everyone's constitutional position. This perfection of yoga and religion, happens once freed from materialistic conceptions of life, primarily bodily conceptions, plus the grace of God.

Later in the Gita Krishna explains: "One who is thus transcendentally situated at once realizes the Supreme Brahman. He never laments nor desires to have anything; he is equally disposed to every living entity. In that state he attains pure devotional service unto Me."
At present, we also are serving constantly, but not Godhead directly. Our service focuses on family, friends, work, community, and country. Such service is highly conditional for a reward or payoff of some kind. It is a business exchange mostly, for money or social recognition, with very limited results. Material service is rarely unconditional or permanently satisfying.
In the following 14 verses from the Gita, Krishna explains more about the science of matter and spirit, as He is the controller of both, and the satifying nature of devotional service.

One who can control his senses by practicing the regulated principles of freedom can obtain the complete mercy of the Lord and thus become free from all attachment and aversion.
One who is not in transcendental consciousness can have neither a controlled mind nor steady intelligence, without which there is no possibility of peace. And how can there be any happiness without peace?

After many births and deaths, he who is actually in knowledge surrenders unto Me, knowing Me to be the cause of all causes and all that is. Such a great soul is very rare.
One who knows the transcendental nature of My appearance and activities does not, upon leaving the body, take his birth again in this material world, but attains My eternal abode, O Arjuna.
Never was there a time when I did not exist, nor you, nor all these kings; nor in the future shall any of us cease to be.
As the embodied soul continually passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. The self-realized soul is not bewildered by such a change.
For the soul there is never birth nor death. Nor, having once been, does he ever cease to be. He is unborn, eternal, ever-existing, undying and primeval. He is not slain when the body is slain.
This knowledge is the king of education, the most secret of all secrets. It is the purest knowledge, and because it gives direct perception of the self by realization, it is the perfection of religion. It is everlasting, and it is joyfully performed.
The Supreme Lord is situated in everyone's heart, O Arjuna, and is directing the wanderings of all living entities, who are seated as on a machine, made of the material energy.
O scion of Bharata, surrender unto Him utterly. By His grace you will attain transcendental peace and the supreme and eternal abode.
Because you are My very dear friend, I am speaking to you the most confidential part of knowledge. Hear this from Me, for it is for your benefit.
From the highest planet in the material world down to the lowest, all are places of misery wherein repeated birth and death take place. But one who attains to My abode, O son of Kuntī, never takes birth again.
One who knows the transcendental nature of My appearance and activities does not, upon leaving the body, take his birth again in this material world, but attains My eternal abode, O Arjuna.
Always think of Me and become My devotee. Worship Me and offer your homage unto Me. Thus you will come to Me without fail. I promise you this because you are My very dear friend.
Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me. I shall deliver you from all sinful reaction. Do not fear.
